OMIA:000955-9031 : Sudden death in Gallus gallus (chicken)

In other species: dog , horse

Categories: Mortality / aging (incl. embryonic lethal)

Links to MONDO diseases: No links.

Mendelian trait/disorder: unknown

Considered a defect: yes

Species-specific symbol: SDS

Markers: Basaki et al. (2016) "concluded that susceptibility to fatal cardiac arrhythmia in SDS may be associated with changes in intracellular Ca(2+) balance due to mutation and downregulation of chCASQ2" but did not provide any compelling evidence for a likely causal variant. Baskai et al. (2019) "described for the first time five mutations (W2287S, T2368A, N2383I, P2425R, and P2436L) in the central region of chRYR2 (between amino acids 2239 and 2530) in relation to SDS" but presented no association results.

Genetic engineering: Unknown
Have human generated variants been created, e.g. through genetic engineering and gene editing
