OMIA:001882-9615 : Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in Canis lupus familiaris (dog)

Categories: Behaviour / neurological phene

Possibly relevant human trait(s) and/or gene(s) (MIM number): 143465 (trait)

Links to MONDO diseases: No links.

Mendelian trait/disorder: unknown

Considered a defect: yes

Species-specific name: Activity, impulsivity and inattention

Species-specific symbol: ADHD

Markers: Hejjas et al. (2007; Mammalian Genome) reported tentative findings of associations between polymorphisms in canine DRD4, DBH, and DAT genes and attention deficit in Belgian Tervuerens. Hejjas et al. (2007; Animal Genetics) provided stronger evidence for association between the DRD4 gene and the "activity-impulsivity dimension of the dog-ADHD Rating Scale" in 'police' German Shepherd dogs. Kubinyi et al. (2012) reported similar associations with polymorphism at the TH gene in German Shepherd dogs. Wan et al. (2013) found similar associations for DRD4 and TH in Siberian Huskies.

Genetic engineering: Unknown
Have human generated variants been created, e.g. through genetic engineering and gene editing
