Cross-species summary: Animals appear normal at birth, but develop distended abdomens and show signs of distress between 24 and 48 hours. Death follows within ten days. Autopsy reveals numerous cysts (up to 1 cm in diameter) in the liver and on the surface of the kidney.

Inheritance: The only published report (Groth and Rosdail, 1955) provides limited evidence of familial occurrence, but no genetic data.
